Op 12 juli 2024 opende The Sick Rose, een tentoonstelling van Hannelotte van Elst. Voor de opening schreef ik deze tekst, over het laten zien van je 'echte' zelf, en de sociaal-maatschappelijke kant van onzichtbaar ziek zijn.

Mind Wandering Mind
De tentoonstelling Mind Wandering Mind onderzoekt het verloop van mentale processen en de manier waarop emoties tot uiting komen in het lichaam. De tentoonstelling gaat niet alleen om kijken, maar ook om aanraken, ruiken, bewegen.
Keynotes Openingswoord
Op 20 oktober 2023 opende Keynotes, een duotentoonstelling van Corrie Kuijs en Toon Janssen. Voor de opening van deze tentoonstelling heb ik deze tekst geschreven. Het mooie aan de abstracte werken van Corrie en Toon is dat het allerlei associaties en interpretaties oproept. Kijken met aandacht. Daar gaat het om in het werk van Corrie en Toon. Beide zijn ze constant op zoek naar het uitbalanceren van het beeld.
Someone Lives in This Body
In de expositie Someone Lives in This Body staat de denkbeeldige tweedeling tussen 'gezond' en 'zwak/kwetsbaar’ centraal. Wanneer is iemand 'gezond'? Waar ligt de grens van wat gezond is en wie heeft de macht om dat te bepalen? Iemands lijf is niet te reduceren tot medisch, politiek of maatschappelijk onderwerp: er woont ook iemand in het lichaam.
Compost: (Un)becoming
Interactions is een talentontwikkelingstraject van POST. Voor deze editie vertrok de groep vanuit het idee van compost. Compost bevindt zich continu in een staat van transformatie en is een dynamisch levend proces. Het is een constant proces van worden en ‘ont-worden’. Deze wisselwerkingen kun je metaforisch terugvinden bij de Interactions-deelnemers.
Expoplu Exchange: Hopscotch
De deelnemers van de tweede editie van het talentontwikkelingsprogramma Expoplu Exchange hebben een intrinsieke drijfveer om de ‘norm’ en het ‘normale’ te bevreemden. Ze willen de absurditeit van het alledaagse blootleggen en ontleden.
Lise Sore: Tangible Traces of Emotion
Lise Sore’s drawings are a snapshot of an elongated emotional moment. Her self portraits expressively depict her own feelings. The transparency of the cheesecloth she draws on is an almost poetic nod to the transparency of herself in her work.
